Decide where smart controls will help most
Start with the lights you use repeatedly or find awkward to manage. A kitchen, main living area or frequently used hallway may be a useful first phase. We help you choose between dimming and on/off control and discuss which routines are worth adding to the setup.
We keep the room’s ordinary use in mind too. If several people use the space, controls should be easy to find and understand. Smart features can make a familiar light more convenient, while the wall operation remains an important part of the design.
Choose D36HD or D315S for the actual job
D36HD is a Wi-Fi dimmer for compatible dimmable loads. D315S is an on/off switch for supported applications. We check the fixture or driver details, connected load and desired behavior, so each device performs the job you expect.
For dimming, tell us whether you want a low evening level, a wide usable range or help with existing flicker. We assess the lamps and control together. A fixture can work with a basic switch yet need a different approach to dim well, and Wi-Fi does not change that electrical compatibility.
Let us review the wallbox and other controls
Both models require a suitable neutral connection. We inspect the existing wiring, condition and available space and explain any corrections needed. If a location lacks a usable neutral, we can compare a supported DN6HD-and-bridge arrangement with appropriate wiring work.
We also review every location that operates the same light. Companion choices and retained controls need to suit the selected model. That helps avoid a room where one doorway works as expected but another control behaves differently after the upgrade.
Plan the network and integrations you want to use
D36HD uses a compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and the product family offers supported integrations including Matter. We review the exact device and current setup requirements for your chosen platform. The equipment list and estimate identify the functions included in the agreed configuration.
If you are replacing a D215S, we explain Leviton’s discontinued status and suggested D315S successor. We assess the installed circuit and companions, then discuss how room names, schedules and integrations will be handled. The aim is a useful upgrade, not just a new switch face.
Enjoy a clear installation and handoff
Cost depends on the number of controls, companion devices, lamp changes, electrical corrections and setup. We explain those items so you can decide whether to start with a few locations or coordinate several rooms during other work. You can also tell us which spaces need to remain usable while the project is underway.

Request ServiceCommon questions
Can D315S give me dimming as well as on/off control?
D315S is an on/off model. For brightness adjustment, we assess D36HD and the actual lighting load. We help choose the control that matches how you want the room to feel.
Can you install Decora Smart if I am unsure about the wiring?
Yes, we can begin with the electrical assessment. We check the neutral, wallbox and circuit conditions and explain suitable options. You do not need to remove the existing device before getting help.
Will it work with the smart-home platform I already use?
We check the exact models and current platform requirements with you. Supported Matter or other integration features still need the appropriate setup, so we identify what is included instead of assuming every connection is automatic.
Can a D315S replace my older D215S?
Leviton suggests D315S as the current successor. We review the actual wiring, load and companion arrangement before recommending the change and include any needed configuration work in the scope.
