Define the circuits
Identify the rooms, equipment and future loads the panel will serve. Separate a new distribution need from a service-capacity upgrade.

The right work. A clear plan.
Installing a new panel starts with deciding what it will supply. A subpanel can organize circuits closer to an addition or workshop, but it does not create more utility capacity by itself. The feeder, upstream service and connected equipment all need to be considered together.
For new construction, equipment location is also a coordination question. Architectural plans, required working space, utility access and future circuit routes should be settled before walls and finishes limit the options. For an existing home, we explain how the new distribution connects to what is already there.

Make the next step a good one.

Assess a suitable location and route, including access, conductor requirements and the connection to existing equipment. Detached buildings may add routing and trench coordination.
The estimate identifies equipment, required permits, circuit labeling and inspection arrangements. Other construction work and utility charges are clarified separately.
Bring a floor plan or equipment list for an addition, workshop or accessory dwelling. Identify who is responsible for excavation, patching and other trades. Ordering a panel before the service design is settled can create avoidable compatibility or space problems.
Clear expectations. Better decisions.
Main versus subpanel installation, feeder length, existing capacity, trenching, available working space and the number of circuits affect pricing. A new panel serving a nearby addition is a different scope from a new meter and utility connection. The written estimate makes that distinction clear.
Your written estimate should identify the equipment, electrical work, access, permits and any separate trades or finish restoration. Ask about anything you do not see included.

A Seattle accessory dwelling project and a Lynnwood garage addition can have different utility and municipal requirements. We confirm the project address, serving utility and permitting authority rather than assuming that one county-wide approval covers every installation.
Most electrical work requires a permit and inspection through the authority responsible for the address. We obtain the electrical permit for work we perform when required. Utility-service approval is a separate step when applicable. Washington electrical permit guidance ↗

Planning electrical panel installation? Start here, then talk with the crew about your home.
Call your local crewA main panel is part of the primary distribution arrangement; a subpanel receives a feeder from upstream equipment and supplies additional circuits. The right design depends on how the property is powered and used.
Not on its own. It adds distribution space, not utility capacity. We assess the overall load and upstream equipment before recommending a subpanel.
Yes. Share the plans, construction sequence and equipment specifications. We identify electrical dependencies and clarify the interfaces with the builder, utility and inspection authority.
Keep the plan connected.
