Leviton LWHEM-2 monitoring to understand your home’s energy use

Wondering how much energy your home uses while everyone is asleep, or how a new appliance changes the picture? Live Wire Electric can help you explore Leviton LWHEM-2 monitoring in a supported installation. We connect the equipment choice to the questions you actually want answered.

Our licensed electricians review your electrical arrangement and existing Leviton equipment, then explain the measurements and features available. The goal is useful information you can understand, with an installation and handoff that make it easier to use.

Start with the questions behind the purchase

You might want to compare heating use during the darker months, understand overnight consumption or follow the effect of changing a household routine. We help you decide which information will be useful and where it comes from. That gives the monitoring project a purpose beyond adding another dashboard.

Whole-home consumption and individual circuit information are different views. A total can show when demand changes; supported smart breakers can add circuit detail. We explain those differences and the limits of identifying individual appliances that share a circuit.

Fit the monitor to your home’s electrical layout

LWHEM-2 includes one pair of current transformers. We review the service arrangement, available space and supported measurement locations to see how the equipment fits your home. Additional panels, solar or other energy equipment can change what needs to be measured and how the readings should be understood.

We handle the inspection and installation inside electrical equipment. For preparation, existing drawings, equipment records and photos of closed panels are helpful. You can tell us what you want to learn without having to work out the sensor locations yourself.

Know what your breakers can do

We identify the Leviton breaker generations already installed. LWHEM supports documented communication with Gen 1 and Gen 2 smart equipment, but the functions differ. Gen 2 can provide remote on/off with the supported arrangement; Gen 1 remote trip does not include remote turn-on.

If you mainly want energy information, you may not need the same work as someone seeking selected circuit control. We separate those goals in your estimate. A monitor is not a replacement panel, and installing it does not increase electrical capacity or add every smart function to conventional breakers.

Talk through backup management when it matters

If you are planning for outages, we can review whether supported load shedding belongs in the larger design. With the appropriate transfer-switch interface and Gen 2 breakers, selected nonessential loads may be managed as part of that system. We confirm the actual equipment and commissioning responsibilities before including the feature.

Conventional and Gen 1 breakers do not gain the same automatic control simply because the monitor is present. We help you choose the loads that matter and explain what remains outside the controlled arrangement. That makes the backup plan easier to understand before an outage tests it.

Get useful readings and a clear handoff

We plan for sensible labels, homeowner account access and checks of the agreed measurements. We explain which readings represent the whole home and which represent selected circuits. If you later change a major appliance, add solar or alter the panel arrangement, those records provide a useful starting point for reviewing the setup.

The installation price reflects access, measurement hardware, interface work and configuration. Contact Live Wire with your city, existing equipment details and the questions you want to answer. We help homeowners in King and Snohomish counties choose a scope that makes the information useful without assuming a full panel replacement is necessary.

Common questions

Will an energy monitor automatically lower my bill?

It can help you understand usage and make informed choices, but the result depends on your habits, equipment and rate. We focus on useful measurements and a setup that answers your questions rather than promise a particular saving.

Can LWHEM-2 show every appliance separately?

Whole-home readings and supported circuit readings offer different detail. Several appliances may share one circuit. We explain what your proposed arrangement can measure so you know how to interpret the information.

Do I have to replace my Leviton panel to add it?

We assess the existing equipment first. A supported monitoring or interface upgrade may be a focused project. Panel replacement is considered separately if the installation’s condition or your broader plans call for it.

Can it help with generator backup priorities?

We can review a supported transfer-switch interface and Gen 2 breaker arrangement as part of a complete backup plan. We identify the controllable loads and required setup, along with any equipment that will remain outside that function.
