Leviton smart breaker upgrades · Live Wire Electric
Leviton smart breakers for more useful control at home
If your Leviton panel is already in place, you may be able to add the energy information or circuit control you have been wanting. Live Wire Electric helps you explore supported smart-breaker upgrades without assuming you need to replace the whole panel.
We begin with your existing equipment and what you want to do differently. Our licensed electricians explain the options for selected circuits, the communication equipment involved and the work needed to make the agreed features useful in everyday life.

Choose a reason for each upgraded circuit
A home office, heating circuit or garage load may be more useful to monitor than a circuit you rarely think about. Tell us the questions you want answered and the controls you expect to use. We help you focus the upgrade on those needs instead of treating every breaker as an automatic replacement.
We also ask about the way your home is wired. Several outlets or appliances may share a circuit, so circuit information will not always describe one individual device. We explain what the selected arrangement can show and control before you decide where to invest.
See what your existing equipment can support
We identify the load center, breaker models and interface already installed. Second-generation Leviton smart breakers can provide remote on/off control with the supported equipment. First-generation smart breakers support different functions, including remote trip rather than remote turn-on. We make that distinction clear when comparing an upgrade with what you have now.
An existing app connection is helpful information, but it does not establish that every newer feature is ready to use. We review the interface, supported communication and setup requirements. If additional equipment is needed, we include it in the discussion before recommending a breaker order.
Keep the protection your home needs
Smart features sit alongside the breaker’s electrical protection. We match the circuit’s required ratings and protective functions, including AFCI, GFCI or dual-function protection where applicable. A convenient control feature does not replace those requirements.
If the reason for calling is a recurring trip, we investigate that first. A connected load, wiring condition or component problem may need repair. Changing to a smart breaker is not a diagnosis, and we want the upgrade to build on a suitable electrical installation.
Plan the work around your household
We review access to the panel, circuit identification and the interruption needed for the agreed work. Tell us about equipment you depend on during the day so we can discuss scheduling. You can prepare with existing records or photos of closed equipment; we handle the inspection inside the panel.
Cost depends on the number and type of breakers, interface changes, circuit corrections and setup. We explain those items separately enough for you to understand the choice. A focused upgrade may be appropriate, while a larger project deserves its own clear reason and scope.
Make the new controls easy to understand
We plan for recognizable circuit names, homeowner account access and a review of the agreed functions. You should know which circuits support remote control and how the selected equipment is intended to be used. We also explain where the manufacturer’s instructions apply to later changes and service.

Request ServiceCommon questions
Can you upgrade just a few breakers?
We can assess that approach. We look at the exact load center, circuit needs and required interface, then help you choose the circuits where monitoring or control would be most useful.
Can my first-generation breakers turn back on remotely?
Gen 1 and Gen 2 have different capabilities. Gen 1 remote trip should not be confused with Gen 2 remote on/off. We identify your equipment and explain the supported functions and any upgrade path.
Will a smart breaker fix a circuit that keeps tripping?
We check the cause of the trip before choosing a replacement. The circuit or connected equipment may need attention. Any smart upgrade must preserve the appropriate protection and suit the actual installation.
Do I need a new interface for the upgrade?
We review the interface you already have against the selected breaker generation and desired features. If a supported LWHEM interface or other changes are needed, we explain them and include the agreed work in the estimate.
