The right work. A clear plan.

Electrical Wiring Repair: what to expect.

Intermittent power, a damaged cable or problems uncovered during a remodel can call for targeted wiring repair. Other findings may justify replacing a larger section of circuit. We explain what is accessible, what we can establish during the visit and where further investigation may be necessary.

A home’s age alone does not tell us the condition of every wire. Past alterations, wiring materials, protective devices and actual deterioration all matter. We do not assume that every older home needs a whole-home rewire, or that a newer home cannot have an installation problem.

Make the next step a good one.

A scope built around your home.

Define the fault and access

We assess the reported problem and accessible wiring. Concealed sections may require planned access; that limitation belongs in the scope, not as a surprise afterward.

Compare targeted and broader repair

A localized defect and a circuit-wide issue call for different solutions. We explain where a repair can stop and when a larger replacement should be considered.

Plan restoration and inspection

The estimate clarifies electrical work, permit requirements and whether drywall repair, painting or other trades are separate. Required inspections are part of the project plan.

Before the appointment

Tell us about prior renovations, visible damage, moisture events and any inspection report you already have. Keep people away from exposed or suspect wiring. Do not touch damaged conductors, attempt splices or open an energized panel to collect information.

Clear expectations. Better decisions.

What affects the price?

The extent of damaged wiring, the route, finished-wall access and required protection affect pricing. A visible connection repair is different from tracing an intermittent issue through concealed spaces. Ask for the assumptions and restoration exclusions in your written estimate.

Your written estimate should identify the equipment, electrical work, access, permits and any separate trades or finish restoration. Ask about anything you do not see included.

Local planning—not a one-size-fits-all job.

Seattle remodeling projects and additions around Lynnwood or Mill Creek can uncover wiring that has been altered more than once. We plan repair access around occupied rooms and finished surfaces, and confirm whether the property falls under city electrical inspection or Washington L&I.

Most electrical work requires a permit and inspection through the authority responsible for the address. We obtain the electrical permit for work we perform when required. Utility-service approval is a separate step when applicable. Washington electrical permit guidance ↗

How do I know whether I need repair or a complete rewire?

An assessment of condition and circuit needs is the starting point. We explain whether a targeted repair addresses the issue or whether broader replacement is the more appropriate long-term option.

Will you need to open walls?

Possibly. Attic, crawlspace and other accessible routes may reduce openings, but no universal no-damage promise is realistic. We discuss access and the responsibility for patching before work begins.

Can you assess older aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring?

Tell us what an inspection or prior electrician identified. We assess the accessible installation and discuss the appropriate repair or replacement scope; age or a wiring label alone is not a complete diagnosis.
