Let’s get the room working again for the right reason

Tell us what was plugged in, which other outlets are affected and whether the issue began after remodeling or a device change. Those details help us understand the circuit. An outlet that refuses to reset can point to more than one condition.

We check the incoming power, the device and the protected wiring arrangement. If a connected appliance or another part of the circuit is the cause, we explain that finding. Replacing the most visible component is not useful if it leaves the real problem in place.

We preserve the functions your circuit needs

AGTR1 and AGTR2 are examples of Leviton dual-function receptacles that combine arc-fault and ground-fault protection. Those functions address different conditions. A GFCI-only receptacle may look similar but does not automatically provide the same protection.

Our electricians check the complete device rating and the circuit requirements before selecting a replacement. We explain the safety features in everyday terms so you understand why a particular outlet belongs there. The choice should be based on more than a matching color or faceplate.

A remodel is a good time to understand the whole circuit

A kitchen update or partial rewire can leave a home with several generations of outlets and protective devices. If your problem followed that kind of work, share the history. We can assess how the protection is arranged and whether the affected outlets are covered as intended.

A dual-function receptacle is not a universal substitute for protection required at a breaker. Its role depends on the wiring design. Live Wire checks that arrangement before recommending a change, then explains what the proposed work will cover instead of relying on a test button as proof of the whole system.

Know what we recommend and what it will cost

If the AGTR device is defective, we identify a compatible replacement and any related corrections. If the issue lies in the supply, wiring or connected equipment, we explain the appropriate next step. You receive the proposed work and price before approving the repair.

We also check operation of the relevant protected outlets after the work. If you want additional outlets or a different room layout, mention that goal early. We can help you separate the necessary repair from optional improvements that would make the space easier to use.

You bring the concern; our crew brings the electrical help

Share any model information or installation records already available, along with the timing of the interruption. Leave the outlet and wall box in place. There is no need to keep forcing resets or expose wiring to prepare for a visit.

Common questions

Is an AGTR outlet the same as an ordinary GFCI?

No. The dual-function AGTR family includes both arc-fault and ground-fault protection. We check which functions your circuit requires before replacing it.

Can the outlet replace an AFCI breaker?

That depends on the complete wiring design and required coverage. It is not a universal substitution; we assess the circuit before changing the protection arrangement.

Why will the outlet not reset?

Supply loss, a device condition or another circuit issue may be involved. We investigate the cause rather than assume the receptacle is faulty.

Can you review other outlets after a remodel?

Tell us what was changed and which areas concern you. We can discuss an electrical inspection or focused circuit assessment and explain the scope before work.
